PET PEEVE #4536

I'm watching a Coalition press briefing (which they only seem willing to actually air on Saturday mornings.) We've been in Iraq over a year now. At what point, exactly, are any of the cable stations going to figure out that at every one of these briefings a certain portion of the questions are going to be asked in Arabic, and a simultaneous translator would be more interesting to listen to than their anchors babbling to make up exactly the amount of time the question takes?

ARE THEY SO CHEAP THEY COULDN'T SPLIT THE COST THREE WAYS? They all have Arabic speakers on payroll to watch al Jaz in case news breaks anyway. What's the deal here?

I've had a similar question. I've noticed in the past that only CNN would have an Arabic interpreter for some simultaneous translation of the questions. It's a shame that these briefings aren't aired more -- I assume they are included in the direct feed that CPA has made available. FYI for you and Rantingprofs readers, you can get the transcripts for all these briefings (24-48 hours later) and significant remarks by Bremer by getting on the CPA email list (under the "Learn More" tab on the CPA site, www.cpa-iraq.org).

Thanks. Aren't they also on the CENTCOM site?
