Well, This Really Is Propaganda Theme Week
Bill Roggio, who figured prominently in the WaPo's article on info ops earlier this week, now has a chance to respond. If you read the first, please be sure and read the second. (Hat tip Instapundit.)
Update: Well this is sparking quite a bit of conversation. Some see the WaPo's story as agenda driven, to the point of calling it a "hit piece." Others see this as an object lesson in the difference between bloggers and legacy media. Obviously it's an embarassment for the Post that such serious mistakes were made by reporters stationed in Baghdad (frankly I'm a bit embarrassed that I didn't catch the errors myself: I was running through the piece too quickly is the only excuse I have to offer, but that's not really an excuse someone whose writing goes past an editor can make, is it?) That's particularly true for the errors made regarding the descriptions of the embedding program.
But, as always, I'm extremely leery of arguments centered on claims about intent, essentially unprovable, with no good evidence. I thought the tone of Bill's original post was pitch perfect: he made perfectly clear where he had been wronged without being either defensive or angry (something I could not have accomplished were I in his position.) If we're going to go with intent, I prefer we stick with the nuanced positions (even though this post also starts with the label "hit piece.")
